Déclaration de l'artiste

« Dans mon art, je mêle la beauté du monde qui nous entoure à ma propre expérience formatrice, celle d'un monde hostile. Choisir de percevoir le monde comme fondamentalement bon et sûr est pour moi un acte de rébellion et de guérison. »

Je peins la nature et les personnages non pas simplement comme de jolis éléments décoratifs, mais comme des êtres dynamiques, vivants, expressifs et significatifs.

J'utilise fréquemment la feuille d'or dans la réalisation de mes œuvres, appliquée sans souci de perfection. Cela constitue un fil conducteur entre elles et invite le spectateur à les interpréter et à y trouver un sens.

Petite enfance

Shane a grandi dans une petite ville agricole des prairies de la Saskatchewan. Issu d'une famille nombreuse, il n'avait pas le confort auquel d'autres étaient habitués. Sans télévision ni radio pour le distraire, Shane s'est mis au dessin dès son plus jeune âge et n'a jamais cessé depuis.

Petite enfance

​Artistic Practice

Independent visual artist with over 10 years of sustained professional practice. Working in oil painting across landscape, figurative, and abstract modes, with an emphasis on emotional resonance, memory of place, and the human condition. Public mural work spans corporate, civic, and community contexts across Canada. Practice is rooted in the juxtaposition of beauty and adversity; gold leaf is used throughout as an act of visible repair.
